Hi guys, we wanted to give you a quick update on some of the things going behind the scenes here and answer a few of the Frequently Asked Questions we’ve been getting lately. Right now, we’re cleaning up a new playtest draft of the core rules which we’re sharing with a few folks. This corrects some of the dumber errata of our November draft (“Evel Knievel” is harder to spell than you’d think), as well as some of the recent changes we’ve made to the system. We also have two playtest sessions planned for next week, which should be a lot of fun – “Jukebox Villains” (our online playtest session for Friday, March 21st) and “BEAST: Bound and Down” (our next session at Game Empire Pasadena, Saturday March 22nd). Both should be a lot of fun and we hope to see as many of you that can make them.
Spirit of ’77 Update – 3.16.14
Here’s the answer to a question we’ve been getting asked a lot – “What are you guys going to do with this when you’re done?” Done is such a hard thing. After some discussion and good advice from people we trust in the business, we’ve decided to self-publish Spirit of 77 with a Kickstarter campaign later this year. We’re getting a lot of help from some very smart people, which make it a little less scary for us.
Another question we’ve been getting is, “How can I help you guys make this happen?” We appreciate that immensely and the support we’ve already received is amazing. Come out to a playtest session and let us know what you think. Got a cool idea for something you’d like to see, or a wild anecdote about the 70’s you’d like to share? Let us know, we’ll see what we can do about making it happen. And definitely follow/share our Twitter, G+ and Facebook antics. We like to know you’re out there, so liking our FB page and following our Twitter feed (https://twitter.com/Spiritof77game) helps us a lot (and puh-LEAAAASE share it with your friends.)
And a final shout-out to James Ernest, Paul Peterson and Cheapass Games with their recent Kickstarter campaign for their new card game, “Pairs.” We’ve been fans of Cheapass Games for years (“Before I Kill You Mister Bond” “James Ernest’s Totally Renamed Spy Game” is a personal favorite), and this project is going to be amazing. Congrats, guys.
Thanks, and keep on….truckin’!
