Strategicon was a success! We couldn’t believe the positive feedback everyone had for Spirit of 77 and the “Cruise Ship of the Damned” adventure, so much so we opted to run a second performance on Sunday. As you can see, the Captain’s hat was a rousing success as well. (Shut up, I thought so.)
Saturday’s game was truly amazing – it was the largest group of players we’ve had at one time and every single player was a rock star in their own right. Gemini, our Glam Rocker, managed to successfully seduce a zombie cheerleader and share his “magic blue pills” with Vincent Peck, our crime-writing Sleuth, which cause this great little moment –
On his left, our Kung-Fu tough lady, Ming Lo, armed Jack the Dancing Monkey with a shiv, which caused all sorts of shenanigans. Colonel Roscoe managed to inspire a new Move for the game, based on his commitment to protect Sgt. Mick, (entitled “No Man Left Behind.”) Sammy Summers and Texas Tornado Cheerleaders used their cheerleader gymnastics to amazing results, and Victoria Crowne managed to shoot everyone in the head with every shot (AS SHE SHOULD.) This was an amazing game, and we were really proud of the results.
Sunday’s game was great because we managed to change the entire premise. As an impromptu game, we had a smaller turnout but it allowed us to take a few chances with the plot – instead of a massive infection causing strange zombies roaming the decks, the Cruise Ship turned into a heist scenario, crossed with the Poseidon Adventure. This gave us a great idea for future use with the adventure – we’ll include “Cruise Ship” in a future expansion, but provide multiple types of game scenarios for players and DJ’s – crime capers, horror survival and probably a few others. Couple that with a great opportunity to play additional games at the Convention, including the debut game coming out from Ares Magazine’s #1 issue, War of the Worlds. That’s a great game by the way, and hard to believe it’s included for free with the magazine. Pick up Issue #1 when you can.
Now we’re getting ready for the Kickstarter campaign with a couple of other projects, including a kick-ass video to go along with the campaign in September and a few other surprises. But in the meantime, we want to give you a taste of the system itself by providing “Cruise Ship of the Damned” as a free download. That’s right, all you need is the download to try out the system and have some fun with pre-made characters and everything. The full game will include character creation rules, more details about the world and system and an additional game adventure for you to try. More on that as we grow closer to the KS campaign, but in the meantime, feel free to download “Cruise Ship of the Damned” at www.spiritof77game.com/downloads/So77_CruiseShip.pdf.
Thanks, and keep on truckin’,
